The term “modest growth” defines the technology industry in 2024. The sector is at the center of counteracting forces. Consumer spending is blunt, thanks to high inflation, higher interest rates, and uncertain geopolitical scenarios. On the other hand, artificial intelligence, cloud, and cybersecurity are taking the edge off of what would otherwise be a dismal year for tech.
While consumer tech may not see phenomenal growth this year, enterprise IT spending is expected to be strong. Sixty-six percent of businesses surveyed by Aberdeen Strategy & Research plan to increase IT spending in 2024.
As such, technology vendors have been actively launching new products and services, a significant chunk of which has AI at its core, at conferences over the year. The upcoming month shouldn’t be any different.

1. Worldwide Developers Conference 2024
Microsoft, Google, and Samsung have had their days. June is reserved for Apple.
On Tuesday this week, Apple sent media invitations for its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). The biggest updates expected by the iPhone maker are the introduction of iOS 18, macOS 15, tvOS, watchOS, and visionOS.
While new hardware is possible, WWDC 2024 should ease fans and Apple watchers regarding its AI software strategy. The company is making strides in AI hardware with the M-series chip, but it is yet to make a mark in AI software. Apple fans would hope this will change in the coming weeks.

2. AWS re:Inforce 2024
Amazon Web Services’ annual cloud security event is usually a two-day affair. However, the company is expanding it by half a day, covering more than 250 sessions. These include lecture-style presentations, interactive small-group sessions, Builder’s fair, workshops, and more.
AWS re:Inforce 2024 will cover the following tracks: data protection, identity and access management, threat detection and incident response, network and infrastructure security, generative AI, governance, risk and compliance, and application security. The conference is a way to explore and gain competence in AWS security services.

3. Cisco Live! Las Vegas
Cisco Live! Las Vegas is one of the three annual Cisco Live! Conferences, the other two being Amsterdam (February) and Melbourne (November).
Like the EMEA edition of the event earlier this year, Cisco Live! Las Vegas will focus primarily on AI. Expect most of the biggest product announcements during the keynote address on June 4 and 5.
Beyond the keynote, Cisco Live! Offers many learning opportunities at World of Solutions, Cisco Showcase, Breakout Sessions, Instructor-led Labs, tests, and certifications. The conference is an essential avenue for connecting with Cisco employees and partners.

4. RenderATL 2024
RenderATL is to Atlanta, Georgia, what South by Southwest (SXSW) is to Austin, Texas. RenderAtl is a conference, exposition, and music festival wrapped into one.

5. London Tech Week 2024
London Tech Week has all the ingredients to be one of the most important events of the month. It is expected to attract tens of thousands of attendees, and more than 350 speakers will discuss eight tracks, including AI data security, entrepreneurship development, and more.
The 11th edition of London Tech Week is slated to be at least thrice as big as last year’s, with 45,000 attendees expected. The conference will be thronged by government ministers, industry leaders, startup heads, and individuals from the tech arena.
